FAQs

Q.    What is Reflexology?

A.    It is an ancient form of natural healing that stimulates reflex areas in the feet, hands and/or ears through pressure, stretch and movement.  Reflexologists view the feet, hands and ears as a mirror image of the body.  By applying correct stimulation to these reflex areas, a reflexologist relieves stress and tension, hence deeply relaxing the entire body from head to toe.  This normalizes the body's functioning, effectively facilitating the body's healing process, enhancing and revitalizing your total health.

Q.    What is the purpose of Reflexology?

A.    The purpose of Reflexology is to support the body in its own healing process by strengthening the body so that it is able to draw upon its own recuperative resources to heal itself.  The reflexologist works to strengthen every part of your body, even parts of the body that do not have any symptoms manifested.  Often it is the healthy parts of the body that provide the resources for healing those which are ailing.

Q.    What can I expect from a Reflexology session?

A.    You may experience pin-prick-like or achy sensations as the reflex areas of your feet, hands or ears are stimulated.  These sensations result from sensitivity that frequently reflects the presence of tension in the corresponding part of the body.

As relaxation is the primary goal of Reflexology, if you experience any discomfort, you should ask the reflexologist to reduce the amount of pressure being applied.

Q.    Does Reflexology diagnose?

A.    No, only a licensed healthcare provider can provide a medical diagnosis.  Reflexology only identifies where stress, tension, acids and toxins are located in the body  (by a buildup of  uric acid crystals on the reflex points on the bottom of the feet).

Q.    Does Reflexology treat disease?

A.    No, the whole body is revitalized, hence supporting the body's own healing process.

Q.    What does Reflexology do for me?

A.    Reflexology is primarily used to produce deep therapeutic relaxation to relieve stress and tension.  It is agreed in the medical community that over 75% of health problems can be linked to nervous and physical tension.  By reducing stress and tension, reflexology strengthens immune system function, improves blood and lymph circulation, improves assimilation of nutrition and elimination of toxins, and calms the nervous system, thereby facilitating the body's natural processes and enhancing the body's overall health and vitality.

Q.    If I have a serious ailment, can Reflexology make my condition worse?

A.    Absolutely not!!  It is completely safe and harmless.  The results can be amazing!!!

Q.    How long is a session?

A.   Usually a session runs anywhere from 30 minutes to one hour in length.

Q.     How many sessions of Reflexology are recommended?

A.      At least three to six consecutive Reflexology sessions, are recommended to get greater therapeutic results.

Q.    How much does it cost?

A.    Reflexology costs approximately $30.00 for a half hour session and $55.00 for the entire hour. If essential oils are used during the session, the cost will be slightly more, but certainly worth it.

Q.    What can I expect from a Reflexology session?

A.    It is a clothed session where only the removal of the shoes and socks are required.  The reflexologist uses pressure, stretching and movement to work through both feet, hands and/or ears completely and methodically.  At the end of the session, you should feel completely relaxed and refreshed. Some people feel invigorated and ready to “take on the world”. Others feel so relaxed, detoxed and de-stressed such that they went home to take a cat nap afterwards. Please be advised that reflexology does detox the body and breakups uric acid crystals, which feel like little (sometimes painful) beads in the bottom of the feet. Therefore, we would recommend that you drink plenty of water after a session.
