Q. What is the lymphatic system?
A. It is a complex system comprised primarily of lymph vessels and nodes working in cooperation to detoxify and regenerate tissues, filter out toxins and foreign substances, recover crucial substances that have escaped from the blood, and maintain a healthy immune system.
Lymph vessels rely upon hundreds of tiny muscular units contracting throughout the body to propel the lymph. These contractions enable the lymph vessels to transport numerous substances (proteins, toxins, hormones, fatty acids, immune cells) to the lymph nodes, which then process them. The process can be hindered or stopped due to fatigue, stress, lack of physical activity, emotional shock, cold temperatures, infections, significant swelling, age, chemicals or food additives. When this happens, cellular function is compromised, thus opening the door to many physical ailments.
Q. What is Lymphatic Drainage therapy?
A. It is a hands-on method of improving the circulation of the lymphatic system. It involves the use of subtle manual and/or electrical simulation to aid in the re-circulation of the lymphatic flow.
Q. What are the benefits?
A. It can prove beneficial in the correction of numerous conditions, as well as be a useful tool in preventative health maintenance. In essence, lymphatic drainage therapy works to activate fluid circulation and stimulate the functioning of the immune system and parasympathetic nervous system. It has been shown to be directly related to:
*Reduction in edemas (swelling) and lymph-edemas of many origins
*Detoxification of the body
*Regeneration of tissue
*Reduction in the symptoms of chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia
*Improvement of venous conditions
*Relief of chronic and sub-acute inflammation, sinusitis, otitis, acne and allergies
*Relief of chronic pain
*Anti-spastic actions to relieve conditions such as muscle hyper-tonus and some forms of constipation
*Works deep to aid insomnia, stress, loss of vitality and loss of memory
*Alleviation of adiposis and cellulite
*Releases parasites trapped in the lymph system
Q. What are possible side effects?
A. Herxheimer Reaction, a.k.a., healing crisis, a.k.a. Hearing's Law of Cure is a possible side effect. Now you may be wondering “what is that”, it sure sounds bad – well it sounds worse than what it really is. It is perfectly normal and a good healthy thing...it means you are ridding your body of toxins. Herxheimer Reaction is a short-term (from a few days to a few weeks) detoxification experience, which includes headache, joint and muscle pain, body aches, sore throat, general malaise, sweating, chills or nausea. These symptoms usually resolve themselves within a few days and you will feel “back to normal”.
When the body heals, it heals:
from the inside out; and
from the top down; and
in the reverse order from which it came.
What this all means is, that you will re-live the last health problem, trauma, illness, accident that you had...but not experience it as badly nor for as long, until it is eliminated from the body for good.
In essence, it is your body's reaction that indicates that parasites, fungus, viruses, bacteria or other pathogens are being effectively killed off and eliminated by your body. Unfortunately, when people start experiencing this, they often discontinue the very treatment that is making them better. If you experience this, hang in there!! You will feel much better in the long run if you stick with the treatment!!
Q. Does it hurt?
A. Absolutely not!!
Q. How long does it take?
A. Approximately one hour. This treatment can also be given at the same time with colon hydrotherapy or you can choose to do Lymphatic Drainage by itself.
Q. What does a session of Lymphatic Drainage cost?
A. An hour long session of Lymphatic Drainage will cost $60.00. If given in conjunction with another therapy and depending upon the length of the session, it will be an additional charge of $25.00.
Q. Will one treatment be enough?
A. No, a series of at least three sessions is recommended to initially get things moving systemically. Several follow up sessions are strongly advised after your series is completed. Aerobic exercises and bouncing activities are also recommended to help move the lymphatic system.
